Jennifer Steyn, a down-to-earth individual who has gained extensive international experience, having spent many years in France and travelling around Europe, where I learnt that “Everyone has something to teach us; the world is not limited to our personal experiences.”
My life’s purpose revolves around assisting others in changing their thinking and habits, enabling them to empower themselves for greater success and to become unstuck. Even when there is a feeling of complete overwhelm, this entirely bespoke therapy can break down limiting beliefs by forming new, more positive neural pathways, opening the door for life to start anew.
I care deeply about people and their journeys, always striving to spark enthusiasm and ignite positive change in every interaction. I am naturally drawn to being a catalyst for transformation—a trait that is deeply ingrained in me.
My own life story has been shaped by a relentless pursuit of growth and problem-solving, whether in the fast-paced world of business—both in corporate and small business settings—or through my constant personal endeavours. I recently survived a traumatic brain injury, which further impressed upon me our ability to reprogram the brain and release trauma and depression.
Over the past few years, I have had the privilege of counselling or mentoring hundreds of individuals, whether in a business context or through my personal therapy practice. I have dedicated countless hours to teaching, either in a classroom setting or on a one-on-one basis. I am an ideas person, with the uncanny ability to see solutions that others don’t and make the most complex ideas simple. I also love storytelling.
I have obtained a degree in Bachelor’s degree in Cognitive Therapy, a Master’s degree in Metaphysical Science (M.Msc), the topic of my dissertation was ‘You Are What You Think’. I have a degree in Reiki and Neuro-Linguistic Programming. I was licensed and certified as a hypnotherapist in 2011. I have an Honors degree in Business Management.
We all experience stress, anxiety, trauma and overwhelm at some point in our lives. At these times, our thoughts can go round and round in our minds; some people even say that they can’t get out of their heads, replaying the incidents over and over again.
Albert Einstein wrote: “You cannot solve a problem with the same thinking that created it.” What does that mean? It suggests that the mindset affected by trauma, depression or other anxieties that led to a problem is unlikely to resolve it effectively. To address and solve an issue, you often need to adopt a new perspective or approach which is different from the one that contributed to the problem in the first place – A complete shift in thinking to overcome challenges and find solutions is needed.
I specialise in guiding individuals on a journey of personal and professional growth, helping them break through mental or thought barriers permanently, which hold them back from achieving their dreams.
There are many ways to achieve change in ourselves: we can use active visualisation or imagination, Neuro-linguistic programming, hypnotherapy, spiritual counselling or past-life regression.
These methods are totally natural, similar to daydreaming or intense concentration similar to when you fall asleep or are surfacing from a deep sleep. These methods enable us to access our subconscious mind where our thoughts are engrained.
Hypnotherapy is a therapeutic technique that uses hypnosis to help individuals address various psychological, emotional, and behavioural issues, and release trauma and anxiety. In a hypnosis session, you intentionally go into a similar state as when going into or coming out of sleep. You don’t become unconscious, lose control, or lose all memories. Instead, most people experience very deep relaxation
This process involves allowing images, thoughts, and emotions to surface and interact spontaneously and imaginatively, often through methods like journaling, drawing, or guided fantasy. This method allows you to identify thought forms that keep you stuck in patterns and habits you want to change.
Simply put, Neuro relates to what’s going on in our minds, Linguistic relates to the language that we use, and Programming relates to repeated patterns of behaviour. Using NLP can change someone’s thoughts and behaviours and, when used in collaboration with other practices, can significantly increase the chance of reaching their desired outcome.
Spiritual counselling is a form of therapy that integrates spiritual, religious, or philosophical beliefs into the counselling process. It aims to address not only mental and emotional well-being but also the spiritual aspect of a person's life. The goal is to help individuals find meaning, purpose, and inner peace, often by exploring their relationship with a higher power, the universe, or their inner self.
There is no hard and fast rule for how many sessions you will need as this will very much be your choice as well as what emerges during the therapy process. Most clients have between 3 and 10 individual sessions but, on average, I would say six is a good number to hold in your mind.
You can choose to be invoiced for one session at a time, or a block at a reduced rate. We will have an ongoing discussion about the changes you are noticing, the progress you are making, and if you wish to continue or feel ready to stop. This is always your call.
A complimentary 15-minute consultation can be arranged at a time that suits us both – either online or on WhatsApp.
